Dewalt designed the DC900KL with a patented three-speed transmission that optimizes the speed applied to each application. This feature offers professional end users maximum performance for a variety of heavy-duty applications. For example, the first speed is ideal for use with hole saws and self feed bits when drilling large holes in wood. The second speed is designed for use with auger bits or screwdriving. And the third speed is meant for hammer drilling into concrete. Additionally, the DC900KL is equipped with a 0.5-inch self-tightening chuck that automatically tightens throughout operation. This provides the end user with over twice the bit gripping torque of a traditional keyless chuck. To withstand the most demanding applications and the most extreme jobsite environments, Dewalt has designed the DC900KL with a high level of durability and reliability. For added comfort and control, this multi-use drill has an anti-slip comfort grip that makes it easy to handle.
When compared to the industry's leading corded and cordless hammerdrills, the DC900KL drills faster and longer than the competition. When tested against other corded hammerdrills by drilling a 1.375-inch hole saw into 20-gauge steel, the DC900KL was able to drill through the material in 3.87 seconds -- 22-percent faster than the Milwaukee 0234 and 300 corded hammerdrills. When testing the runtime of the tool, the DC900KL drilled an average of 67 holes using a 2.5625-inch self-feed bit through 2x10-inch boards -- 2.6 times the number of holes drilled by the industry's leading 18-volt hammerdrill/drill/driver.
The DC900KL has the ability to complete a variety of heavy-duty applications, such as drilling in wood with self-feed bits, auger bits and hole saws, fastening lag bolts and hammerdrilling in concrete as fast or faster than leading corded drills. Combined with up to three times the runtime of 18-volt drills, the DC900KL brings new levels of productivity to any jobsite.

I am a HVAC professional and in my work there are many different drill needs on each job. I love the makita 18volt impact drill for the small screws on the furnaces and A/C units. I am a Dewalt fan and have the 18 volt combo kit as well. I bought the 36volt and use it exclusively for drilling anchor holes in brick and block. I also use it for paddlebit drilling of holes for pulling wire thru the joists in basements and attics. It has plenty of torque and the power lasts a long time. I highly recommend it to anyone that needs a powerful drill without the cord. The only negative I have with the drill is that it sometimes slips out of drill/hammer setting and has to be adjusted.
