DEWALT's DWX723 miter saw stand can hold a serious amount of materials with a max capacity of up to 500 pounds. With its 5-1/2 foot main beam backed by extensions that stretch to support up to 16 feet's worth of materials, it's ready to become an essential part of the jobsite. Also, it has an extended length of up to 50 inches with extension lock levers that provide simple but steady locking for the supporting extensions, as well as providing an extra level of impact resistance. Raymond E. DeWalt followed in his father's footsteps by holding mill and constructions jobs from the time he left school. No matter what the job, the question of high labor costs always concerned him. To help cut these costs, occasionally he rigged up a machine to meet some special need. Eventually, Mr. DeWalt was offered a position as head of a woodworking mill that manufactured almost everything from boxes to full-fledged houses. I own a DW708, a DW718, and a DW723 stand. When the DWX723 came out, I knew I had to have it. The improvements over the old stand are very much appreciated. The majority of the stand is an engineered extruded aluminum section so it's lightweight, doesn't twist, and takes an impressive amount of abuse. My miter saw and stand have been caught in downpours and I don't have to worry about rust or jammed parts. There are no small shear pins or hydraulic rams to worry about.
The yellow leg brackets are made of steel and provide the lateral rigidity for the stand. The legs have captive rubber foot covers so that they don't come off in the dirt or when moving from your truck to the worksite. The legs now have a handle you can squeeze to disengage the ball lock, similar to the rolling stand for the dewalt mini table saws...no more pinched thumbs. The extensions lock down with an improved camlock lever handle in one direction now. Improved wider base material supports are great for anything wider than a 2x10. The whole stand in the collapsed position is well balanced and the rounded carry handle on the bottom is comfortable. There's also a t-track on the bottom which I use to mount a GFCI surge strip.
The quick release mounts and hardware are included for whatever you decide to put on this stand. All the accessories available on the DWX723 are compatible with the DW723.
The end caps on the extensions could be designed a little bit wider and a little bit taller so that the material support bases engage more positively and this would allow the extension arms pull into the body more...we're talking only 1/16" to 1/8". I'm still a huge fan of Dewalt.
